Brendan worked hard today making the closet into a real room...As you can see he has made a lot of progress - no more shelves or clothing rods. He also painted the room a bright, happy white - a nice contrast to our flying elephants. The furniture comes next week. In the meantime, I am doing baby laundry and organizing all this kid's stuff!

Rain, rain, rain
San Francisco was a rainy mess today. Even Karl got depressed! Spent some time thinking about all the stuff I need to do but didn't do a thing....I'll get to it next week! In the meantime, we hope it stops raining so Karl can get back to his usual self.

Our Doula: Michelle-Nicholle
This is the woman who will be with us through labor. She will come to our apartment to help me through the early stages of labor and will then take us to the hospital. At that point she becomes our 'advocate' making sure that our wishes are communicated to the staff. This might sound a little crazy to some, but having a doula increases the chances of having a natural birth...it shortens labor by 25% and c-sections by 50%. After the baby is born she will come to our apartment for two follow up visits to make sure we're doing okay and to help out.
Brendan wasn't that excited about the idea of a doula but is now really glad we made this decision.
You can check out Michelle-Nicholle's website to find out more about her: http://www.freewebs.com/sunflowerdoula

Goodbye ATTIK lunch: "the unshower"
Mary Michael organized the creative crew + a few account people for a goodbye lunch at Eddie Rickenbacker's...Special guests included Amy Yu (who now works with Brendan) and Rachel with four week old Eden. Rachel and I sat next to each other at ATTIK. The creative boys were very good sports...They gave me a cool Jack Spade diaper bag, which Brendan will be very happy to carry...It was the perfect send off.
